De Berardinis and Tecnozoo seeds: an Italian story since 2008

Riviera Queen and Pomposa Alfalfa:

the experience of De Berardinis Farm

De Berardinis Cesare Farm was founded in 1979 in Pianella (Pescara) thanks to the work and passion for agriculture of father Enrico and mother Daniela.

The farm began its livestock activity with 20 Marchigiana cows and 24 hectares of land, half of which were cultivated as mixed grassland to produce hay for the animals housed in the barn, and the other half planted with durum wheat.

In 2008, with the entry of their son Cesare into the business, the farm shifted to a beef cattle fattening operation. At the same time, they began to consider how to increase forage production through the use of seed mixtures, in order to improve yield per hectare and also start marketing hay.

The collaboration with Tecnozoo began precisely in that year.

The first consultations and the first products purchased date back to this period, starting with milk replacer for fattening calves.

In 2015, Cesare and Enrico decided to try a seed mixture developed by Tecnozoo technicians, with the aim of obtaining a product that was as fine as possible and superior in both quality and quantity.
The following year, in addition to confirming the use of the ryegrass–soft wheat mixture, with small adjustments to the formula to further improve the already very positive performance achieved the previous year, they chose to sow 10 hectares of Riviera Queen alfalfa.

Over the years, the farm has continued to expand, along with the number of beef cattle being fattened.

Today, De Berardinis Farm has the following crops:

– 30 hectares cultivated with a ryegrass–wheat mixture, used on the farm and partly sold locally

– 43 hectares cultivated with Riviera Queen alfalfa and Pomposa alfalfa

– 30 hectares of durum wheat, delivered to De Cecco for flour production

– 20 hectares of barley for beer production
