Basso Farm
For the column“the Farmer Tells the Story”, the Basso Farm agricultural company in Parma takes center stage. Founded in 1990 by Francesco Basso , the farm is now run together with his children Jessica, Valerio, and Alessio.
From the very beginning, the goal has been growth based on quality and animal welfare. The first barn allowed average production levels of 25–27 liters per head, but the real breakthrough came in 2019 with the construction of a new, modern, and functional facility. Since then, the herd, composed mainly of Holstein cows, has reached average production levels of 33–37 liters per head.
Quality parameters have also shown significant values:
- Fat: 390
- Total protein: 370
- Casein: 275
- Somatic cell count: approximately 150,000
The collaboration with Tecnozoo has been a key factor in this growth path. The use of the Adisal 1000 supplement has supported improved digestive processes, with positive effects on dry matter intake, fertility, and animal longevity.
Thanks to these results, the project to double the herd is no longer just an ambitious goal, but a concrete prospect for the future of the farm.*
