In this episode of “The Farmer Tells the Story”, we meet Carmelo Guastella, owner of the family-run farm bearing his name in Ragusa, who shares his experience with Tecnozoo and explains how this partnership provided the right productive and metabolic boost to his herd.

“Genetics are important, of course, but to make a Ferrari run fast you need the right fuel. And this is where Tecnozoo from Piombino Dese (PD) comes into play, with its team of agents and nutritionists. About 7–8 years have passed,” Carmelo recalls, “since I asked Valentina Gissara from Tecnozoo to put me in touch with one of their technicians, and she brought Cristiano Ossensi to my barn. ‘Doctor,’ I told him, ‘if you can get my cows to calve with normal levels of udder edema, I’ll work with you.’” A bet well won, needless to say: Ossensi adjusted the energy and mineral balance of the ration offered to transition cows, and that made all the difference. “Since he has been formulating the rations,” Carmelo adds, “my cows have been running without the handbrake on. Average production has steadily increased, and hoof disorders are now a thing of the past.”
